Good Heavens British Bar 2F 5-32-5 Daizawa 155-0032 Setagaya, Tokyo. Artist Talks are informal events where artists get together to discuss art and ideas. They take place every few months in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. At each event, several artists give short talks followed by a few questions from the audience. For this installment, we are delighted to be joined by illustrator Blood Bros, multi-media artist Alison Carpenter-Hughes, photographer Suzanne Mooney, and multi-media artist Sofia Saleme. Artist Talks are organised with artists from Art Byte Critique, 3331 Arts Chiyoda and Canvas. Doors open at 7pm. Talks start at 7.30. The only cost is the price of your own drink. https://www.facebook.com/pg/ArtistTalksTokyo/events On the afternoon of Sunday 7 April 2019, five Isobar Press poets will be reading at the El Sur Foundation in Shin Daita: Jane Joritz Nakagawa, Yoko Danno (who is coming from Kobe), Eric Selland, Philip Rowland, and Paul Rossiter.
In addition to reading just a little of his own work, Paul will be re-introducing two Isobar poets whose work sometimes gets overlooked, Lesley Hardy and David Silverstein. This will be a rare chance to hear Jane and Yoko read in Tokyo. The event will be held in Nomura Kiwao’s poetry café in the El Sur Foundation near Shin Daita on the Inokashira Line. This is where the Naka Taro talk and reading took place recently – a delightful space, with beautiful furniture and book-lined walls.
