We went to the launch party in Aoyama last night for Volume 4 of the Tokyo Poetry Journal: a special issue on "Heisei Generations", showcasing poets who have debuted during the current Heisei era (1989 to the present). Now in its second year, ToPoJo is a biannual journal, published in English, which aims to bridge the English-speaking and Japanese poetry communities. The night was fully bilingual (or trilingual including Tian Yuan's Chinese poems!) and hosted by the volume's guest editor, Jordan Smith (Josai University). ToPoJo volume 4 is out now! Featured poets include Saihate Tahi, Hachikai Mimi, Minamikawa Yuko, Kuwahara Takiya, Misumi Mizuki, Kanie Naha, Tian Yuan, Nagae Yuki, Akegata Misei, Jeffrey Angles, Andrew Campana, Hirokawa Chiaki, Nakauchi Komoru, Oshima Takeo, Ishiwata Kimi, Fuzuki Yumi, Tanaka Atsusuke, Noguchi Ayako, Suzuno Umine, Ōsaki Sayaka, Tanaka Yosuke, Matsuoka Miya, Satō Ayaka, Kōno Satoko, Yamada Ryota, Yada Kazuhiro, ni_ka, and Michiyama Rain.
